Mountain symbol in coffee grounds and tea leaves
Obstacles · Ambition · Endurance
What does a mountain mean in a coffee cup or tea leaves?
Traditionally, a mountain points to obstacles on the way to a goal, or to high ambitions. A mountain can reflect a challenge that asks for patience and steady steps, not one big leap.
A question for reflection
What is the next small step up your mountain?
One small step
Break one big task into three smaller ones.
Where the mountain sits in the cup
- Near the rim: obstacles in what is close to you now, or soon.
- On the sides: obstacles in what is developing over the coming weeks.
- At the bottom: obstacles in what is settled, further away, or deep in the past.
- Near the handle: obstacles in you, your home, and the people close to you.
- Opposite the handle: obstacles in other people, and the wider world.
A clear shape counts for more than a faint one. Families and readers differ, so treat these as starting points.
