A PERSONAL READING, FREE
Prefer a personal reading? Send a photo of your cup.
Turn your cup over as usual and let it dry, then send one clear photo looking into it. We will email you a personal, reflective reading of the shapes, usually within 3 days. It is free, with no account or payment.
How to take a good cup photo
- Use daylight or a bright lamp, without a flash, and avoid strong shadows.
- Hold the phone straight above the cup and look down into it, with the whole rim and the handle in view.
- Keep the grounds or leaves in focus; one photo of the inside is enough.
- Keep faces, other people, and documents out of the picture.
How does the online coffee cup reading work?
With a real cup, the page guides you through the custom: drink, hold your question, swirl the cup three times, turn it over, and let it cool. Then you look inside your cup and, for each shape you see, tap where it sits on a map of the cup and choose what it looks like. The reading combines each symbol’s traditional and reflective meaning with where it sits: near the rim or at the bottom, on the handle side or opposite.
What is tasseography?
Tasseography is the reading of shapes left in a cup: coffee grounds in Turkish, Greek, and Balkan coffee cup reading, and tea leaves in the British and Irish tea leaf reading tradition. The shapes, and where they sit in the cup, are read for their traditional meanings. Here they are offered for reflection, not prediction.
Can I use it for tea leaves?
Yes. Choose tea leaves at the start: the steps change to swirling and draining a teacup, and the symbols and zones are the same. See how to read tea leaves for the right tea and cup.
What is the virtual cup?
If you have no coffee to hand, your browser scatters grounds and a few shapes in a virtual cup at random. You look for shapes, tap them, and choose what you see, just as with a real cup. The shapes fall by chance, so what matters is what you recognise in them.
Is my cup reading private?
Yes. The guided reading needs no photo and no account: your question, the shapes you choose, and your notes stay in this browser tab and are never sent or stored. If you send a photo for a reading by email, it is stored privately, never published, and deleted 30 days after we send your reading, within 90 days at the latest.
How does the cup reading by email work?
Send one photo looking into your cup, with your email address. We look at the shapes, where they sit, and how they relate to the handle, and email you a personal, reflective reading, usually within 3 days. Readings may be prepared with the help of AI tools. You receive a short confirmation as soon as your photo arrives.
Can a coffee cup reading predict the future?
No. Coffee grounds and tea leaves settle by chance, and nothing shows that they can predict events. Reading them is a way of noticing: the shapes you see, and what they bring to mind, can help you reflect on a question. Your choices remain your own.
