Moon symbol in coffee grounds and tea leaves
Feelings · Intuition · Recognition
What does a moon mean in a coffee cup or tea leaves?
Traditionally, a full moon in the cup suggests happiness or recognition, and a crescent, change or a new phase. A moon can reflect your feelings and moods, and how they change, as the moon does.
A question for reflection
Which feeling has been asking for your attention?
One small step
Notice your mood three times today, without changing it.
Where the moon sits in the cup
- Near the rim: feelings in what is close to you now, or soon.
- On the sides: feelings in what is developing over the coming weeks.
- At the bottom: feelings in what is settled, further away, or deep in the past.
- Near the handle: feelings in you, your home, and the people close to you.
- Opposite the handle: feelings in other people, and the wider world.
A clear shape counts for more than a faint one. Families and readers differ, so treat these as starting points.
