What does a hourglass mean in a coffee cup or tea leaves?

Traditionally, an hourglass warns that time matters: a decision should not wait too long. An hourglass can ask how you are spending your time, and what deserves it.

A question for reflection

What deserves more of your time, and what less?

One small step

Spend one hour today on what matters most.

Where the hourglass sits in the cup

Near the rim: time in what is close to you now, or soon.
On the sides: time in what is developing over the coming weeks.
At the bottom: time in what is settled, further away, or deep in the past.
Near the handle: time in you, your home, and the people close to you.
Opposite the handle: time in other people, and the wider world.

A clear shape counts for more than a faint one. Families and readers differ, so treat these as starting points.
