Eye symbol in coffee grounds and tea leaves

An eye drawn inside a cup, from Velvet Omen’s cup symbols

Awareness · Insight · Caution

What does an eye mean in a coffee cup or tea leaves?

In coffee cup reading, an eye is often read as watchfulness, protection, or someone paying attention. It is a reminder to be aware, never a curse. An eye can ask what you see clearly, and what you might be avoiding seeing.

A question for reflection

What are you beginning to see more clearly?

One small step

Look again at one situation with fresh eyes.

Where the eye sits in the cup

Near the rim: awareness in what is close to you now, or soon.
On the sides: awareness in what is developing over the coming weeks.
At the bottom: awareness in what is settled, further away, or deep in the past.
Near the handle: awareness in you, your home, and the people close to you.
Opposite the handle: awareness in other people, and the wider world.

A clear shape counts for more than a faint one. Families and readers differ, so treat these as starting points.
