A candle drawn inside a cup, from Velvet Omen’s cup symbols

Light · Inspiration · Patience

What does a candle mean in a coffee cup or tea leaves?

Traditionally, a candle stands for help from others, inspiration, or a light in a difficult time. A candle can reflect what lights your way, and how you can share light with others.

A question for reflection

What helps you see a way forward?

One small step

Ask for help with one thing you have been carrying alone.

Where the candle sits in the cup

Near the rim: light in what is close to you now, or soon.
On the sides: light in what is developing over the coming weeks.
At the bottom: light in what is settled, further away, or deep in the past.
Near the handle: light in you, your home, and the people close to you.
Opposite the handle: light in other people, and the wider world.

A clear shape counts for more than a faint one. Families and readers differ, so treat these as starting points.
